Architect Jason Salavon Studio
In American Varietal, Salavon aims to present a broad stroke of data, from the premier information-gathering organization in the world, as an abstract mural. The solution is a clinically plotted 3-dimension "graph" whose prime purpose is a counterintuitive aestheticizing of information. Using only county population data from the decennial censuses and a color palette derived from state flags, Salavon has produced the "dataform" presented here.
Rockey Structures provided engineering services for the design of the structural steel frame, and connections, of the mural, which is cantilevered off of the base building columns.
